About the Abuja Literary Society

The Abuja Literary Society (ALS) – founded in 1998 by Victor Anoliefo, Ike Anya, Ferdinand Agu, and Ken Ike Okere – is a creative initiative that brings together writers, aspiring writers, book lovers, intellectuals, and anyone passionate about the literary arts.

Every Friday evening, members of ALS gather in Abuja to share ideas, listen to poetry, and engage in vibrant discussions during our weekly meetings. These sessions feature open mic poetry, book readings, literary workshops, and thought-provoking discussions that celebrate creativity and culture.

Beyond these gatherings, ALS organizes larger literary events and festivals that contribute to our mission of building and sustaining a thriving literary community in Nigeria’s Federal Capital City. We welcome writers, visual and performance artists, and all lovers of words to be part of this growing movement...
